A day at the farm!

It was a beautiful day at the farm with the family. Feeding the goats and riding on the tractor. The highlight was when Orien got his entire bag of oats ate by one of the goats paper bag and all. Orien was not happy with the goat and tried to grab his neck and get the bag back with no luck. Then he told the goat to go away.

should have known!

So after dragging the boys in for yet another Dr. visit to hear the babe...my Dr mentions that we should head to the hospital a block away to do the pre-admissions paper work since we are having a planned C...Yes a planned C is enough of a strange thing but it is what it is. So as the receptionist calls over to make sure I can meet with the admit folks they find out I have NO scheduled C for May 16th..the date planed for the last 4-5 months...plane tix in the running, Auntie B coming out to help and now NO surgery..and they say they are full on that date..welcome to USA births...a bit devastated my Dr. calls over and can re-arrange enough to get me in on Thur May 15 in the evening..so there it is when all seems to be planed never doubt something will make for urgent changes! So it feels weird do change the date as it has created some comfort for months chatting with babe in planning for May 16th..but May 15 at 5:00pm is the new date!!!!!! okay so that leaves 9 days for changes!!!

music through 30 years

I realize as I sit here downloading a gazillion songs how much music has always marked moments, meeting, relationships...the years, days, months in tangling into my most fond memories. jody and the boys gave me anew Ipod as my birthday gift,,,and now i am attached to the computer in attempt to fill the 20,000 songs that could go on the pod....and with each song bring backs memories..memories or small concerts at Amazing Grace where I was truly introduced to artists like Martin Sexton, Chris and Johnny ( sitting there amongst amanda and katy writing in journals saying goodbye to a year of college) or Patty Griffin who so boldly sticks out as a walk done 3rd street belting her music on the way home to the yellow house. Or Dixie Chicks first introduced to me on a "mix tape" from jennie a friend from cheley days...listening to wide open spaces while flying though the beach of Lake superior....or to Ani Difrancos million songs sung as I wandered the Appalachian trail..and meeting Jody while talking of her songs and meanings out in TN on the first adventure we took together back in 2000. I could go on and on...catie curtis who's music brought Cedar into this world, it seems for me music began when i left home and from there on out all my memories are attached to some song....and it feels good to travel to the past while preparing for the unknown with music..so off i go to get my fill..of the yesterdays and tomorrows.

clear the freezer!

Ahhh, 2 years later..another earth day passed another birthday and we finally decided it was time to bury Oriens placenta! It has been in the freezer awaiting a tree planting ceremony and last Sunday was the day. It actually worked out great to have waited as Orien is now old enough to help..help dig into the earth, pick the perfect tree and replant it with his own piece of growth. Cedar was also excited to help wondering where his placenta is...which we showed him video of himself a whole 2 weeks old out planting a tree in land near Cheley Camp where Jody and I meet. So we ventured out onto friends land up here on the mountain..wandered a bit looking for the "perfect" tree. Orien helped pick out a beautiful 4 ft tall Ponderosa Pine..and then Cedar wandered even longer not satisfied with any until his little single stem 12" tree popped up. He seems to think watering happened from the top of the tree and was worried that he wouldn't be able to reach to top if it was too tall. So for him the tiny tree would do!

They are now home, planted, placenta buried...and Cedar asks daily if he can go see if his tree has grown~!! has a while to wait i try to tell him.
